The scope of this structural study was the rehabilitation and strengthening of an existing masonry building built in the 19th century in Dhmhtsana, Arkadia, Greece. The building used to be a school and now is being converted to a museum.
The first part of the study consisted of the strength evaluation of the existing masonry building.
The second part dealt with the analysis and design of a new structure inside the masonry building, to serve as mezzanine floor. It consists of a two floor structure with the first floor made of reinforced concrete and the upper of structural steel. The foundation of the inside structure is a mat foundation.
